Introduction to Network Cabling – Copper & Fiber Optic – Based Systems

This program will include both the Network Cabling – Copper Based Systems and Fiber Optic Based Systems. This training can be the first step in a rewarding career in technology. Today’s world could not exist without the telecommunications technology infrastructure supporting the networks that connect us at home, work, or virtually anywhere. Some type of connectivity is necessary to purchase groceries at the supermarket, withdraw funds from an ATM, send an email, watch a movie or place a telephone call.

The first section of this program will include Introduction to Network Cabling – Fiber Optic-Based systems (C-Tech Fiber) provides students with a theoretical and hands-on knowledge of Fiber Optics. Students learn the basics of cable termination, testing and troubleshooting using sophisticated electronic equipment. They terminate fiber optic cables with ST and SC connectors, two of the industry standards, and perform a mechanical splice. They get into the theory of fiber optics and calculate a system loss budget.

The final section of this program will include Introduction to Network Cabling – Copper-Based Systems (C-Tech Copper) provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to become certified entry-level technicians in the network cabling industry. The course focuses on proper tool use and construction techniques, the characteristics of various industry standards, troubleshooting and repair. Students construct, test and troubleshoot copper-based cabling systems that are the basis of today’s networking, cable television and satellite communications systems. The industry standards include both commercial and residential structures. Troubleshooting includes a whole chapter on testing copper-based systems. There is a chapter on networks, too---wired and wireless. All the latest information is included, on Cat 6 and quad-shield coax, VolP, smart homes and more.

Students who successfully complete this short-term course will earn their C-Tech Network Cabling Specialist Certification (Fiber Optic & Copper-Based Systems) as well as their Leviton Installer Certification. Upon being certified, students will be assigned a login and password to access job searching tools and special offers available exclusively to C-Tech certified graduates, as well as being added to their database for employers looking for certified professionals to hire. Prerequisite: No previous experience necessary. *Tuition includes student kits & text manual $255.

Become a Smart Home Professional in the area of home entertainment. Learn to install whole house audio systems and Home Theaters. Learn how to place speakers for maximum enjoyment and how to create a 360 degree sound stage for Home Theater. Learn the effects of subwoofer placement on sound quality and the difference between soft and hard spaces and the advantages and disadvantages of flat panel displays. Work with actual speakers, 5/1 system and C-Tech’s interactive trainers to fine tune listening enjoyment and to master the skills necessary to install, test and troubleshoot audio and video connectivity systems and devices. This course is a must for interior designers, architects, builders, installers, real estate, and users as it applies to today’s and tomorrow’s home entertainment systems.

Students who successfully complete this short-term course will earn their C-Tech Smart Home Professional Certification in Home Entertainment Systems. Prerequisite: No previous experience necessary. *Tuition includes student kit $75.
